India records highest daily spike with 3.49 Lakh Fresh Covid Cases, Also recorded over 2,767 Deaths

India on Sunday records over

3,49,691 new Covid-19 infected cases, taking the tally to

16,960,172, since the pandemic broke out in January 2020. This is the highest ever single day rise in cases reported by any country so far. According to Union ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW) for the first time 2,767 deaths were also registered across the country in the last 24 hours,

while there are 26,82,751 active cases.

This is the

 fourth straight day when more than 3,00,000

 fresh infections are detected in India.

India first hit the grim milestone on

April 22

, when it logged 3.14 lakh infections in a day, 

being the-then highest in a single-day anywhere in the world.
