The lockdown in Delhi has been extended by a week amid the growing coronavirus pandemic. The lockdown will continue till 5 am next Monday i.e. May 3 in Delhi.
Earlier, the lockdown was supposed to come to an end in Delhi on yesterday morning, May 26. But the Delhi government has decided to increase the lockdown in view of the threat of coronavirus pandemic.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced to pursue the lockdown saying that Corona continues to wreak havoc in Delhi. The lockdown in Delhi is being extended to 5 am next Monday.
He said that during the lockdown we saw that the positivity rate reached about 36-37 per cent.
'We have not seen such an infection rate in Delhi till date. The infection rate has come down slightly from the last one to two days and has come down to 30 percent today," he said.
"We have started a portal which will be updated every two hours by oxygen manufacturers, suppliers and hospitals for better management of oxygen supply. Central and state teams are working together," he added.
The coronavirus pandemic is playing havoc in the country. All the precautionary steps being taken by the Central and State Governments are proving to be not enough.
Everyday the deadly Covid-19 virus is making new records. coronavirus infection has now increased wildly in the capital Delhi. In the last 24 hours, more than 24000 cases have been reported, while 357 people have died.
